Not all LED lights are built the same. A lot of LED lights are products produced in the Far-East. Many are produced in the Far-East but then re-branded. Some brands design products in-house but then outsource manufacturing from elsewhere. This is all well, and we’re not here to comment on how good or bad a brand might be that employs any of these methods, but at Lazer Lamps we take a different approach. Our design, engineering, and build functions are all performed in-house, in the UK.
There are a number of distinct advantages to operating in this way, to name a few:...

An increasing number of manufacturers are employing CAN Bus systems for managing the electrical inputs on modern-day vehicles. Historically, the reserve of high-end, high-spec models, CAN is becoming more prevalent, but there are systems available which interpret the CAN Bus signals to ensure any auxiliary light installation works as seamlessly as if fitted alongside a more traditional electrical system.
Let’s take a closer look and understand…
What is Can Bus Technology?
CAN (Control Area Network) enables communication between different systems...

LED technology is moving fast, not only becoming more efficient, but more reliable as well. As a market leader and innovator, we’re constantly looking to upgrade products and launch new ones, optimising lighting performance for different applications depending on: the intensity of light, visibility at the sides of the road, and up/down spread. Considering our different products, and new and upgraded products available since this Autumn (including our Linear and Triple-R Elite-3 ranges), here we look at the differences in beam patterns and when and where some products might perform better...

We often get asked, ‘What is the best Lazer Lamps setup for my pick-up truck?’, and to give an appropriate answer requires us to break down a few factors which might influence your decision making when purchasing.
Road Legal vs Off Road
Road legal setups allow for the convenience of lamps running off your vehicle wiring, with the auxiliary driving lights coming on with your standard high-beams. For a lamp to be considered as ‘road legal’ it needs to be ‘E-Marked’ for Road Use. The E-mark is displayed as a marking on the lens. Current lamps we sell...

At the time of launching the Triple-R range back in 2015, it comprised two different tiers – Standard and Elite. The later featured higher output LEDs run at higher drive currents to achieve 30% more illumination. Last year the range of products evolved further with the introduction of the Competition tier of products, and upgrade to the Elite tier, now known as Elite2. Here we look to explain in a bit more detail the differences between each, and demonstrate the beam pattern variations.

Choosing the right LED Light Bar can greatly improve safety and your enjoyment of driving at night. Nowhere is that more true than off-road, and particularly when the territory is unfamiliar. There are a few things you might consider upfront before parting with a little, or lot, of your hard-earned cash though, that’ll hopefully help make sure you don’t end up with a glorified oil lamp, or cursing a light which has given up the ghost after a few months!
Firstly, consider some basics. Where will you be using your lights? Is it...

A little earlier than previous year’s, we are just back from our now regular annual pilgrimage to Europe’s largest off-road show – Abenteuer Allrad, held just outside the picturesque town of Bad Kissingen, 2 hrs east of Frankfurt. There are many great people, meetings, exhibitors, stories and memories to reflect on, so for those that weren’t able to be there, here’s our perspective on the week.
First off, because we’re British after all, a bit about the weather! We’re not sure why it is, but it seems every year we get lucky with the weather...

When it comes to pure, unadulterated enjoyment behind the wheel, not much beats the cool air and empty roads of a night drive, does it really? If your idea of heaven is a midnight dash through the most involving and challenging of country lanes, then forget the size of your engine or the ferocity of your brakes. The smart money is spent out front, illuminating the way. When it comes to cerebral performance enhancements, the future is most definitely bright, my friends!
When you stop to analyse it, Petrolheads spend their modifying budget on the most eclectic mix of upgrades; stickier tyres, l...

Here at Lazer, we’re often asked how our lights compare to some of the best competitor products on the market (and compared to some of the worst too!). We thought it was time to make some benchmark testing and bring some of those photometric diagrams to life for our customers!
We tested rival LED products from Rigid Industries and Vision X, in addition to an Ebay-bought light bar from China to see how that would stack up. Each Lazer product was compared with an alternative product of either a similar claimed raw lumen output and/or a similar price point.
Each product was assessed ident...

Last weekend (24-26 April) saw our products illuminating Silverstone with a brilliant display of high-performance auxiliary LED lighting in the punishing 2015 Dunlop 24 Hour Race.
Over one third of the 29 teams going head-to-head in this high-profile endurance race were equipped with night-piercing Lazer Lamps products - a factor that we believe was instrumental in securing multiple team wins throughout the classes, especially considering the spell of torrential rain through the Saturday night.
A highlight among these successes was the outstanding performance of the British manufacturer's fl...

Consumer understanding of the intricacies of LED lighting technology has come a long way over the last 4 years since Lazer Lamps was formed, but we’re still trying to fill a knowledge gap crucial in helping both retailers and consumers understand why not all LED lights are made the same. It’s inevitably a technical subject though and while being able to demonstrate lighting in action will always be the best way to ensure consumers can make educated purchases, we know this isn’t always possible.
The myriad of misleading technical data doesn’t help the situation, and whi...

The final stages in the development of our new product range required real world testing in arctic conditions - bring on the Arctic Rally in Rovaneimi… Our new product line is approaching launch, and there were a number of open questions that we wanted to know the answer to before launch. Rallying can sometimes takes place in poor light conditions, we often get asked by the rally fraternity whether our lights work in fog, ice-fog or snowy conditions, and does the beam penetrate far enough without glare coming back to the driver.
We arrived in Rovaneimi for the 50th...

The 2015 Autosport International show in Birmingham was an excellent way to start the New Year and show our current and forthcoming products – thanks to all of our customers who made it on to the stand!
The outstanding feedback we received from those drivers who have already used our lights proves once again the competitive advantage that Lazer gives at night time race events. We were also able to show customers a preview of our new product line which will launch in March 2015, to deliver more than five times the peak intensity of our current lights, equating to almost three times the d...
